I recommend this book absolutely!
This book was a "Textbook" needed in my Spring 2011 English Composition II assignments. I really enjoyed this book because even though I seriously don't like to read books that I don't pick out, this one is a great resource on different subjects of actual stories and a bit on poetry.
Foster's book is all about a person learning and being able to understand literature such as a textbook with lots of stories that are 30-100 years old and being able to understand them.
I read this book and learned about Intertexuality (p.34-35,43,189-90) and how Vampirism (p.15-20) are not always vampires, they can be old mean people preying on maidens and not caring (selfish).
I recommend 'How to Read Literature Like a Professor' for people who want to understand what you are reading in any book. I also recommend How to Read Novels Like a Professor also.
